The Heart of San Bruno
The Heart of San Bruno campaign was created to honor the people and places that give the city of San Bruno its warmth and character.
This video highlights the merchants of downtown San Bruno—hardworking locals who show up every day to serve the community they love—while also celebrating the broader story of our city: its culture, its resilience, and the bonds that connect us.
We hope it inspires you to visit, support, and rediscover the vibrant heart that beats right here at home.

The San Bruno Improvement Group is thrilled to announce that we have officially selected muralist Julie Engelmann for our upcoming mural project.
Julie is a celebrated Bay Area artist whose vibrant public murals can be seen across the region. She brings local history, culture, and community to life through thoughtful colorful design. With her deep experience in creating meaningful public art, Julie is the perfect partner to create a mural that honors San Bruno’s natural beauty.
This project has truly been a labor of love, made possible through the collective effort and shared purpose of the San Bruno community. From San Bruno T-shirt sales and fundraising events to the dedication of the incredible SBIG team. This mural was built by people who believed in its vision.
We are especially grateful to our Pop-Up Partners vendors, who participated knowing they were popping up for a purpose—contributing their time, energy, and support to help move this project forward.
We extend special thanks to Barry Gevertz, Embarc-San Bruno, San Bruno Rotary Club, Artichoke Joe’s Casino, Julianna’s Luxe, Stephan Marshall and Twice As Nice for their generous financial contributions.
We also want to thank the Skyline College Bay Area Entrepreneur Center Leadership Program students for their support and for being an important part of our efforts throughout this project.
Together, this collaboration reflects what is possible when creativity, community, and commitment come together to invest in San Bruno.

The San Bruno Improvement Group is proud to lead a community initiative that’s bringing color, creativity, and connection to the heart of San Bruno.
Our Mural Initiative is one of our key programs aimed at reviving downtown San Bruno through public art. Each piece we help create celebrates our community’s spirit, tells our shared stories, and adds lasting beauty to our cityscape.
This campaign is fueled by community support and local partnership to donations from neighbors who believe in the power of art to unite and inspire.
Your contribution helps fund future mural projects and artistic installations that continue to brighten our downtown.
Together, we’re building a more vibrant, welcoming San Bruno - one mural at a time.
