This Halloween season, San Bruno's food scene is the treat. Spooky Spoons is a Peninsula Passport challenge from Outside Eats, the SF Peninsula food guide. From Thursday, Oct 8 through Thursday, Nov 5, download the free Outside Eats app (iPhone and Android), then check in when you visit any of 73 participating San Bruno spots.
Every check-in earns a stamp: 100 points, plus 25 more the first time you visit a place. Stamp every stop for a 500-point bonus. Track your standing on the live leaderboard. The top score when the campaign closes wins a $100 Visa cash card.

A Living Legacy
San Bruno’s Natural History
For years, the wall at 568 San Mateo Avenue was blank. Today it holds a red-tailed hawk, a gray fox, a California quail, and a coast iris — all of them native to San Bruno, painted at life scale by muralist Julie Engelmann.
This mural was a labor of love. It was funded by San Bruno t-shirt sales, pop-up fundraisers, and neighbors who gave what they could. It was built by people who believed in its vision.
